Valley is in bloom with precious strand

Saffron flowers are in full bloom at a field in Khrew, 25 Km south of Srinagar, as in other parts of
the Kashmir valley.
Saffron has been grown in Kashmir since the Mughal period,which began in the 16th century.
It takes some 170,000 flowers to get a kilogram of the precious spice.
